that was just a dream, just a dream, just a dream...dream

today i had a dream. not a martin luther king type dream. one that probably wont get me killed. so here it is...

i woke up and i felt kinda bad. not like sad or down or something like that. but more like worn out, fatigued. that kind of thing. i was a bit dazed as well...so, anyways, i was supposed to be meeting tony for a concert at a house of blues later on. he wasnt going to be arriving for some time as he was traveling from somewhere else. so in the meantime, i figured id try to retrace my steps and see if i could figure out why i felt the way i did.

i went off to some of my usual places i would hang out and i ended up at some odd place. it wasnt odd in the dream, its just odd to me in real life. it was kind of like a bar/barn. bar...plus barn...i think ill call it a barrn. but ill drop that second r. clever, i know...but yeah, so perhaps i was in a more country type environment? i ran into, of all people, bobby hill. yeah, the kid from king of the hill. he was actually animated too. it was like roger rabbit. he was telling me how i got drunk and stuff. i guess in my dreams im an alcoholic? also, in that same place i ran into some animated chick. she told me that i had gotten drunk last night and we were playing around. then i raped her. that kind of saddened me so i left. in retrospect, id imagine i wouldve apologized or something.

so im back at home. and sleep and tony wakes me up with a phone call saying hes on his way. i head to the house of blues to wait for him and sit next to some random girl on a box. eventually some dude walks up as if he were approaching me. he got like a foot away and turned and sat on the opposite side of the girl. i thought it was odd, but didnt think anything of it. tony happened to be right behind the guy and he was like 'hey "chicks name" and "dudes name" are already here, cool'. so i guess we knew the chick and the dude?

not sure why, but after this, i stepped outside and appeared to be in some alternate universe. it was loosely based on gears of war but with a little mix of captain n. you know, the game master. so there i was...in some big ass suit. running around shooting aliens. but i had a 360 control that i could use to move myself in addition to normal movement. after shooting down some flying object, i tried to take a minute to process what was going on. then this rocket came out of nowhere. i thought, "its only one, i can shoot it or dodge it." then it split into three smaller, faster ones. so i ran away. i saw an old tomb type thing. i figured id run at the wall, then dodge and the rockets would hit the wall. so i began running and the rockets were pretty close. i was almost to the wall and i pressed 'right direction' and the 'green button' on my 360 control which made me do that fancy dive roll thing they do in gow. i got up and saw that one rocket was still chasing me. how it didnt hit the wall like the rest was beyond me. so i ran towards the rocket thinking that if i run past it, it will have to do a u-turn in the air to follow me. that didnt seem possible so i figured id be safe. so i ran. and it turned around to chase me. who knew? as im running i see the dude from step brothers and walk hard. hes running towards me. suddenly he leaps through the air and intercepts the rocket. there was an explosion. he died. immediately. and then i woke up and thought to my self...'seriously? that just happened?'

so yeah it was kinda odd, but ive noticed that little things from the day tend to pop up in my dreams. so heres (in order)what im thinking were the sources of some of this...

1) the tired/fatigue - thats me every day
2) house of blues trip - today id been thinking about concerts and rocking out with tony. a while back we saw a concert at a house of blues.
3) the country environment - chris' dad referred to country music today. as well as some chick on a show i saw.
4) bobby hill - i see show daily.
5) animated chick - i saw a little of jesse (team rocket) today.
6) video games - i watched a few episodes of x-play today.
6.5) rocket strategy - n+
7) john c reilly - we watched step brothers at work

so there you have it. pretty odd, but that was just a dream...just a dream...just a dream...dream...

let's go to the punk rawk show

i go to a lot of shows. its one of the few things i truly enjoy doing. being in korea sucked. i missed many a show. i timed my midtour and ga08 just so we (read: i) could see suburband legends. and i managed to keep my warped tour streak in tact and even saw rancid. heh...yeah...so far this year ive seen:

1. the take action tour (cute is what we aim for, meg & dia, every avenue)
2. less than jake with the expendables, the flatliners
3. three part melody tour (plain white t's, danger radio)
4. alkaline trio with saves the day
5. pepper with the supervillains
6. (m)orning tour (mae, barcelona, person l, tokyo)
7. earth, wind, and fire with chicago
8. warped tour 2009 (houston)
9. rise against with rancid, billy talent
10. warped tour 2009 (virginia beach)
11. foreigner
12. clipse with the cool kids

technically the first show i ever went to was janet jacksons rhythm nation tour in 1989. didnt really do anything for me. the show i really consider being my first was the kottonmouth kings in 2002 at the house of blues in myrtle beach. crowd surfing. stage diving. awesome atmosphere. awesome band. thats what did it for me. few weeks later i was back to see goldfinger. not long later. the crystal method. and the trend continues.

when i look at the money and time invested into some of these shows its pretty crazy. getting to warped tour at 5am? making the singer of the matches laugh on stage? being on stage for an aiden show? the dude jumping from the balcony during rise against? good memories. and well worth the price of admission. so when ive got no place to go, yeah...ill go to the punk rawk show.

head games.

so i was supposed to hang out with evan and do something today, but that didnt happen. i say today, like im actually wriiting this on that day...im not. but that'll be our secret. so anyway...the previous plans fell through so i went with the backup. seeing foreigner.

the show was pretty all right. im really only familiar with their greatest hits album, so i wasnt expecting to know all the songs, but thats pretty much what they played. so it worked out pretty well. they played a brand new song and one of their first ones. both of which were new to me. but yeah...the show was awesome. i wasnt expecting to stay for the whole thing, but i ended up being there singing my heart out for the duration of the set. minus those two other songs...and that drum solo. cant really sing to that.

after the show, i followed the crowd to the exit. or so i thought. as i turns out, i took the longest possible route to the exit. so i get to the exit, after 30 minutes of manspeed walking (jogging pace for a non-man), and they funneled everyone out through two small doors. eventually they opened all the doors. why not do that in the first place? this was at busch gardens williamsburg, by the way. so i get out of the park and head to the train/shuttle thing to get a ride to my car. i used every trick in the book to cut ahead of many a person and get to the front of the line. it was nothing short of amazing. it was at this point i realized i was in the stroller only lane. so i switched to another lane. and at this point i realized i wasnt even in the right section. there was a whole other shuttle i needed to take. terrible. i went over there and i didnt see a solid opening to cut again so i figured id man up and walk to my car. as my luck went, i was in the farthest parking lot...at the back. i thought i had parked strategically. i had not.

so several minutes later i get to my car. and of course by this time the park was closed and everybody was leaving at once. so what does that mean? a severely crowded parking lot. slowly but surely im making my way out. emphasis on slowly. i let a car or two in along the way as is the way traffic works. well, this one woman wanted to get in. so she starts inching out in front of me. well, i wasnt really trying to have that so i made it clear. now, normally i keep a comfortable distance even in these traffic conditions. but this time? no. i sat up and made sure i got as close as possible to the car in front of me. the woman yells at me from her window and says "youre not gonna let me in?"...i say "i let them in, the people behind me will let you in...its like taking turns." makes sense right? to most, anyway... she yells back "well you can let me in right now"...i say "no...i cant do that" and turned back to face traffic. she yelled more and i couldve rolled up my window to ignore her, but i wanted her to know i heard her. so i left it down. and after i successfully denied her access. i let in the car parked next to her. just to anger her. yeah...im that awesome.

so, 30 minutes of man-walking. 30 minutes trying to get out of a parking lot. not that great. foreigner and putting that woman in her place. damn two turn tables and a microphone...thats where its at.

thats me in the spotlight...

religion has never been something ive been big on. my mom tells me that as a child i would cry nearly the whole time we were at church. and from what i remember, ive never liked going. really, i was always figured you could be religious at home if you really wanted to. moving on...

im a pretty logical thinker and dont really tend to believe things without solid facts or some sort of backing. so the whole religion thing just doesnt really do it for me. it seems to have a flaw or two that are too big to overlook. if its your thing, fine. great. do you. if it gives you something to believe in, ok. if it gives you an idea of how you should live your life, ok. i have my own take on how to live and i guess im doing all right. it would be nice to have something to believe in, but id like to believe in my beliefs.

ive had this outlook for sometime but its a topic i avoid so its never really come out before. but in this atmosphere, its more of a one sided conversation anyway.

on a side note, sksk did an excellent cover. and as it turns out, that song is over and now their "notorious thugs" is playing.

i met a man named byron black...

so, i was driving home today and i saw a homeless man. i thought to myself, "well, that dudes just awesome. walking around all fat and homeless...wearing his house coat...wait? HOUSE COAT!?" if hes homeless, why does he have a house coat? he doesnt have a house. this was all wrong. my first thought was to contact josh and inform him of my findings. which i did. to which he replied, and i quote (read: copy, paste), "Haha, that's tragically awesome." true story.

in other news, i got lost on my way home today. 30 minutes of driving around listening to silversun pickups. yeah. again. true story.

it's times like these you learn to live again

so i went down to orlando for my birthday and to see a less than jake show. it was a pretty all right time. team us had dinner with my parents and that was definitely something. something awesome. chris came back with me because he wasnt going to be able to make it for mancon week. as it turns out, he was there for the bulk of the time so it all worked itself out.

as for mancon. what can i say? yes. that is all. if you were a part of it, youd understand where im coming from. it was my first gathering in a while. and the first one i arranged / hosted. overall, everything went very well. frisbee. "real" gym sessions. pictionary. all the little awesome things that happened. again, yes. josh and jordan stayed a few days for some post-mancon action. those guys are the shade of blue on a cloudy day.

it was good to see everybody and i was in serious need of something like that. the day to day ness is killing me. so thanks to all of you that were a part of it.

ill do a continuation of this once all the pictures and videos are up. until then. heres one from evan.

i like what i like, i hate what i hate

so, you know how sometimes people recommend going to a restaraunt youve never been to or eating a food youve never had, right? then they follow up with something like, "its awesome" or "youll love it". i hate that. or when they just take you there or provide it without some sort of warning? then youre kinda stuck with it, you know? i hate that too. im pretty open minded about everything. but when it comes to eating. im picky. some stuff, in my opinion, just sucks. and i want nothing to do with it.

news from the front

for the longest time i thought he was saying 'noose from above'. hes not.

ive been slacking in most aspects of things lately. no motivation to really do anything. it sucks. but i guess it doesnt suck enough for me to care. or i dont care enough to do anything about it. who knows...

to sum up the past two months, nothings been going on. im gettled settled into my apartment and work kinda sucks. i got a new tv and had it calibrated on sunday. im pretty happy about how that turned out. big thanks to eliab and his company, avical, for that. im watching ultraviolet right now. its terrible.

it took more convincing that normal (see top), but i went to the take action tour to see cute is what we aim for. i like the band, but wasnt expecting the level of awesome they put out. ive see them before, but it was warped so things are a bit different. every avenue, good. meg and dia, meh (based on live ness). breathe carolina, no...not at all.

so yeah. two months later and thats all that i have to cover. and those things happened sunday and tuesday. things are pretty slow for now, but will pick up for a bit in march.

in short, this is a long goodbye.

so i pretty much stopped doing the myspace thing with the exception of occasionally messaging people i dont have another contact for. and with the end of that is the end of my older style of blogging. instead im going to take the 8-bit approach which i think is a pretty damn fine idea. ill stick with the lyric based titling though because i do like that...

todays the day im leaving and tomorrow ill be gone

im not actually writing this while in the process of leaving, its more of a 'written after the fact' type thing...

well, its finally over. my time in korea has come to an end. i made some pretty good friends out there and plan to keep in contact with them. korea itself still sucked, but at least i was able to find entertainment. i had some pretty interesting adventures out there. there were also a handful i couldve done without, but i guess it makes for a story to tell later...

i was definitely looking forward to leaving. the food. the crowdedness. the smells. work. all those things were pretty terrible and i wanted to get away from them. despite all that, like i said i did have some good friends out there. so, when i was asked to stay another few days so i could hang out with them one last time, i couldnt say no.

we took the weekend to go back to the pension for phil and i to have our last time out with the crew. it was a good time. a lot colder though which sucked. a few weeks before, i had met muna and she was pretty all right. we hung out a few times and i got her to come up to the pension with us. so, that was pretty all right too. its kinda funny in a way that last time i did the blog thing, it was about going to the pension...

coming back from korea i planned to visit family, visit friends, then back to the family, then go to va. i had a pretty good time down at moms house. i didnt do anything but play xbox and watch 30 rock, but that was enough for me. my trip down to georgia to visit friends felt rushed. it didnt go as planned really, so thats probably why. i kinda tell myself i would have done things differently if i could do them over, but at the same time the way i see it, id still be the same person. so wouldnt i naturally make the same decisions? hmm...regardless, its nice to be back in a place that (to me) makes sense (mostly).

fast forwarding ahead....

now im in virginia and enjoying it quite a bit. i have a bunch of old friends around here so thats pretty all right. a few of the all right people from korea are here too. i kinda dont want to see them because it reminds me of being there, but they were people i didnt mind having around so its cool. i dont know what work will be like yet. honestly, things are good enough as they are that i just dont care either. so unless its really bad, i dont think ill be bothered with it...*i say that now...*

well, thats about it for that. just a short little whatever. i guess ill end this like the last one...pictures and a video. not in that order though...
